MALAYSIA, I MISSED YOU! ●●●
Friday, November 09, 2007 3:03 pm
Alright people! I missed you loads!! XD Let's see what I've been up to in Beijing.Saturday: Arrived in BEIJING ABOUT 6.30 or so... Then we went to Breakfast at a muslim restaurant. Sai La Ma Can Ting. IT WAS DELISH. MMHMM![I ate two of the cakois and greedily ate the mixed vege with bamboo shoots. CAN?] Then, we went to the Summer Palace. The scenery was awesome!! I took a picture with Merissa! x) Later on, we went to this pearl factory place. Didn't buy anything. Pearls aren't my cup of tea.The salesgirls there were asking my mother if I was my mum's daughter.
SG: .... Is this your daughter, maam?
Mum: Yeah
SG: Very beautiful. She looks like Chinese.
Two of them said that at diff times and sections. =.= I dunno if they're mengampu-ing or really honest. I'll stick with them mengampu-ing.
LUNCH TIME, we went to this restaurant, WHICH i can't remember the name BUT I have pix of it which I CAN ONLY SHOW YOU when I get my PC fixed. Then these people were selling these kacang thingys. It's a mixture of nuts and fruits all packed into one HUGE cube. Half a kilo is 20 yuan. Pricey, but yummeh.
So then we went to Forbidden City! It is HUGGGGEEE! It's like... THE WHOLE OF MELAWATI OR GOMBAK! Oklah.. maybe not that big but... AROUND 10 km YOU KNOW! *gasps* AND SO TIRING! Later, we walked past Tiananman Square to get to the bus. SO DAMN JAUHH!!
Then we checked in at the hotel at about 5.30. ^.30 we were called to go out to watch this Acrobatic Kung Fu theater thingamajiggy about some kung fu master named Kong Kong and FINALLY we went for dinner............
SUNDAY: WE WENT TO THE JADE CITY THINGY! OMG I TELL YOU! THERE WAS ONE JADE BRACELET LIKE SO DAMN PURDY!! The Jades were rectangular and had diff colours like pink, yellow, green, blue and black. I LOVED IT! IT was 900 yuan. My dad said "NO" and bought me two cheapo bracelets. One was a pink rose quartz bracelet and the other one I dunno what stone.. I think agate kot? but got the chinese symbol for luck if I'm not mistaken. Oh and I bought a pair of earrings. Flower shaped with small black crystals or something. XD
Lepas itu, KAMI PERGI KE satu tempat yang jual CRYSTAL!! XD I got a crystal heart pendant yang multicolour with the chain lah!
According to the charts:
YELLOW =MONEY
GREEN= HEALTH
PINK/PURPLE = LOVE
My pendant ade sume! And also a bit of blue. I think. Mainly green!! XD Nanti our bowling trip I pakai! XD NEXT, this place with the cloisonnes and what nots. Cloisonnes are like.. those vases made from copper or smth lah.. Not interested pun. HERE. I SAW THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING EVER! It's like a painting but actually it's a cut out of a beautiful cherry blossom tree from black paper and stuck on white card. IT IS GORGEOUS! It's like.. a 100 yuan. 50 ringgit. I argued with my parents coz they din wanna buy me it.
After that pegi Great Wall, so I was frowning lah kira.. But masa tangkap group photo, I faked a smile.. OOLALA~ Naik halfway je! =( PENAT LAAH! My parents went to the tower where they allow tourist to go lah. Me and my bro duduk katy the second checkpoint with my dad's officemate: Aunty Lily who kinda lost her husband there. She kena tinggal. XD
Lepas tu we went to this herbal place where the grown-ups had their feet massaged using the reflexology thingy. Bummer.
MONDAY: We went to a silk place where they sell silk comforters and silk pillowcase covers and the likes of it lah. And they also sell pilllows made out of the faeces of those silkworms. It smells like tea leaves so don't say 'UGH!' xD
And my parents, me and my brother bought one. The comforter that is. After we finished, we went outside the place and saw everyone munching. It was a tosai-like thing that was being sold across the road. Without a doubt, (seeing that the stall was covered with all those 'Bismillah' stuff) I bought one and my dad bought one.
The thing is like tosai but before they flip it, the crack and egg on it, spreading the egg all over and then they flip it. Once it's been flipped, they brush it with chilli paste and some black thing. I think it's soy sauce? THEN they put this deep-fried crispy thing which reminds one of FOOCHOK, sprinkle it with spring onion and sesame and fold. SEDAP SEYH! (as Stefira would say)
WE WENT TO A JEWELLERY SHOP HIDDEN IN THIS KINDA UNDERGROUND PLACE! The place is near the 2008 Beijing Olympics Stadium. We reach there, have to got through some bamboo plants and then go down the stairs and I tell you the DECO IS BEAUTIFUL! We went to the jewellery place called JIUJIUFU.(see,see. I AM ADVERTISING!)
So then,we entered this room and the salesgirl who was sposed to be in charge of us asked where we came from. "MALAYSIA!" we all said, proud. Then she said that her boss is MALAYSIAN and she got another salesgirl to go and check if he was available and free. Guess what? HE WAS!
SO, he came to see us. Introduced himself as Johnny Lim. I'll refer to him here as Mr Johnny. =)
Apparently, his father is also a Malaysian and he's the one who actually owns the place BUT he is in IJN for heart treatment or something so that's why Mr Johnny was in charge of the place temporarily.
Then, he led us out from the room and explained to us about the stones and what nots. He told us that the stones are actually cheap and all that and told us their original cost price and stuff. Then he showed us the price tag. IT WAS BLOODY EXPENSIVE! So then he said, "Because you are my countrymen, I am charging you the original price instead of the displayed price" and everyone was in AWE! Oh. He also said
Actually, EVERYONE is beautiful. Not beautiful from the outside but from the inside
Umm... BIGGEST ROLE MODEL EVER? Oklah. Not really role model but kinda like.... an INSPIRATION.
My mum saw this BEE-YOO-TI-FUL jewellery set. I can't remember what stone it is though. [Sorry! Short-term memory loss. Haha!] The original price is around 8000++ Yuan and then Mr Johnny marked it down to 3000+
MJ: You give this to her at (the 3000+ price. I CANT REMEMBER I TELL YOU!)
SG: But boss, this is (8000+)
MJ: I know, i know. Don't teach me to do business ah?
SG: Okay, okay. *proceeds to entertain my mum*
THEN, I saw a LOVELY necklace with a heart pendant and a black stone in it. Opal i think. Original price: 2000+
Price they offered to yours truly: 450 Yuan
AND. MY DAD BOUGHT IT FOR MEEEEEE~~
And a jade bracelet which originally costs 480 yuan but they sold it to us at 100 yuan per bracelet. Most of the people in our tour group bought it [THAT includes ME]. I mean, HELLO, it's pretty and CHEAP DANGNABIT!
So, after we all finished and said our goodbyes to Mr Johnny, we went outside JJF and went to this restaurant for our lunch. We were seated in a room. IT WAS HALAL AND DELICIOUS. Thank god they didn't have those yucky tasting sup telur. I HATE THAT AWFUL THING! BLEHKS.
From our dining room, we could see the Yunan girls performing and stuff. Then about three of them came to our dining room and tied a red string on everyone's hand. Right hand for ladies and left hand for the guys. [I didn't take it off till we reach the hotel that night. =)] Oh,oh! I made friends with Ainal, a form 4 daughter of a new uncle working in MDV. YEAP YEAP.
After that, we went to a mosque and bought more of the kacang thingy from the people selling it outside the mosque!
THEN, THEN. We went to this shopping centre called the Russian Market and then there was another place we went after that but I don't know the name. OOH. We also bought a packet of this nutty snack thingy.
IT's wrapper is red and when you open it, you'll see a white roll inside, wrapped in a plastic-like sheet. Guess what? The sheet is NOT plastic and it's edible. Inside the white roll is a sweet nutty filling. NAK? Come to school on Monday and get it* And DUHH it's halal.
(* Does not apply to form 3's.. xD)
After that, we went to have dinner at Sai La Ma again! We were served with sweet and sour fish which somehow they cut it so that they don't have bones and look like flower petals. x) For dessert, they served us susu goreng. God knows what the chinese name is. But it's awesome. They use what milk ntah. I was too busy eating it to pay attention to the chef's explanation.
On the way back, Michael[our tour guide] said that we have to gather at the hotel lobby by 5.30 the next morning. EVERYONE groaned.
TUESDAY: My mum woke me and my brother up at 4.45. I was like "HUH? WHA?" but my brother, on the other hand, CRIED.
"AJIM NGANTUKLAHH!" he says. Obviously he doesn't know the PAIN AND SUFFERING I GO THROUGH EVERY SCHOOL DAY. EESH.
At 5.30, Michael STILL didn't arrive and as expected, everyone looked like zombies. So yadayadayada, we reached the airport about 6.45, checked in and stuff, went to buy a Beijing Olympic T-shirt and keychain and that's IT.
8.25, we were boarding our plane!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So there ya go! Sorry for the delay guys! But I am kinda banned from the PC til my exams are over. Since my mum went to a majlis thingy her friend was having, I AM SNEAKING ONLINE TO FINISH THIS POST, JUST FOR YOU PEOPLE.
Oh and I'll also add the fact that about 30 minutes before we arrived in Malaysia, the plane kinda dropped a bit, went back up, dropped a lil bit more, ascended and continued smooth-sailing.
EESH.
